Hi. You can be glad you can commit the album. I've be lookin high and low in Denmark, and nobody even know that Jarres Session 2000 album is out. I can't buy it anywhere but on the net. Brian

The idea of a single release is to promote the album, and there are no tracks on the album which are 'single material', not even close. The tracks are way too experimental/jazzy/ambient (take your pick) and Jarre is not an artist who gets airplay on the radio (well that is certainly the case in the UK).

Combined with the fact that the album is a low key release, it all adds up quite clearly that the album will fade away fairly soon. Jarre has always added some energy and enthusiasm when promoting his albums, although Sessions 2000 has not had a thing. What do you think that means? Even Odyssey Through O2 was promoted very well by Jarre, and nothing for Sessions 2000...

Dont you find it odd that an artist does not want to promote his latest album? To me, that says a lot about the intentions of the release and it's goals. The album was released only 7 weeks after Aero and there was not a mention of it in any promotion around the concert, surely Jarre would not miss such an opportunity? Maybe Jarre gives little value to the release of Sessions 2000...

Yes, I know it was released in MVC, HMV, Virgin Megastores and V-Shops. I looked in Our Price to see if they could order it; as I did read the article I knew they wouldn't have it in stock, and I said that HMV and MVC were the ONLY places I could FIND it. I couldn't even find a Virgin Megastore or a V-Shop, so I can't say if it was there or not.

You said 'I would like to see what track from Sessions 2000 could be made into a single?'.

Why couldn't any of them? But if I was to choose the best possible single, it would be March 23. I don't see why you think that none of the tracks can be released as singles. They all CAN, but they won't necessarily be.

And why does it have to enter the charts? All I'm saying is that if a 3 minute edit of one of the tracks was played on the radio it would do well for the album, which is more important than the single anyway.

And yes, it was a lowkey release, fair enough. I just don't see why it should have been and I think that there should be some publicity for Aero, otherwise Jarre's music career could go downhill dramatically.

If you recall the article that was posted on here 16/10/2002, it states very clearly:

The album should be available in the following UK stores; HMV, MVC, Virgin and V-Shops.

That was the complete list, given to us by the distributor. Hence other record stores will not have it in stock unless they make it a special order (highly unlikely).

As for a single release, I would like to see what track from Sessions 2000 could be made as a single? I do not think there is any material which would enter the charts at all, and after all the release is quite low key, this can be seen by the lack of promo, distribution, etc.

I managed to get my copy last Thursday; there is an Our Price in my town but they didn't have it there either, I had to go out to Lincoln especially for an HMV shop, and thankfully managed to find it.

There was a small notice next to a rack of copies of the album saying things like 'This is Jean Michel Jarre's long awaited follow up to hist last album 'Metamorphoses'' and 'The album is a return to classic Jarre, with pure ambient bliss'. They seem to be quite keen on it, but then again they wouldn't put bad comments otherwise it wouldn't sell!

I'm not surprised the album didn't chart in the UK... I think that with some more publicity and a single release two or three weeks before the album, it would have got a better position... not necessarily charting, but being more successful.

Oh, and it would have been helpful to be released country-wide! I only found it in HMV and MVC... HMV selling it for £14 (more than a usual new album cost) and MVC for £13, if you have membership.

Sorry for rambling on for so long! :)

I am not surprised that Sessions 2000 hasnt charted in the UK; because record shops havent even got it in stock; i have been into at least 8 different record stores; some Big Chains and Independent Record Stores and only 1 had it on the shelves. On the day of the release i rang Our Price at Meadowhall (SHEFFIELD - UK) and they said that they had it in stock; and HMV Meadowhall (SHEFFIELD - UK) and they said it wasnt even out. So i went to Our Price and they hadnt got it and so i decided to go into HMV on the off chance and they had got it on the shelf; i almost sarcastically said to them "U should get yourselfs sorted out as when i rang u; u said u hadnt got it" but decided not to. I bet i was one of the lucky ones who mangaged to find the album (on the day of the release). I do think that the album deserved to chart as it is quite a good album.
